The Bridge Has Been Burned

When I was growing up I heard the expression to never burn any bridges… at a young age, I thought – duh, that’s arson.  But, now being older and perhaps a little wiser, I now understand what the expression means.  You never want to burn a bridge on the off chance that you may need to cross it at another point in your life.
